I first learned about Cake from Prolonging the Magic (because of Never There, of course, thanks MTV!). After that, I went back and got my hands on Fashion Nugget and although I found it weird at first, it slowly grewon me. I remember being dumbfounded by phrases like “Friend is a four-letter word”, as I was still learning English and those kinds of expressions escaped me.

Strangely, it doesn’t remind me of the 90s. I feel like Cake as a band is its own thing, and they don't really sound like any of the bands of the era. It’s a good and chill listen. I wish I had a beer in hand.

Today, listening carefully and not doing anything else, I decided Sad Songs and Waltzes is my new favorite song from this album.
